Refund & Cancellation Policy

1. General Policy
As a registered charitable trust operating under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961, we follow strict guidelines regarding donation refunds. All donations are considered final and non-refundable except in specific circumstances outlined in this policy.
2. Non-Refundable Donations
The following donations are non-refundable:
- Voluntary donations made with full knowledge and consent
- Donations for which tax exemption certificates have been issued
- Donations made towards specific programs or projects that have already commenced
- Donations made more than 7 days prior to the refund request
- Anonymous donations where donor details cannot be verified
3. Refund Eligibility
Refunds may be considered in the following exceptional circumstances only:
3.1 Duplicate Transactions
If you are charged multiple times for a single donation due to technical error:
- The duplicate amount will be refunded
- You must report the issue within 7 days of the transaction
- Provide transaction ID, payment receipt, and bank statement as proof
3.2 Unauthorized Transactions
If an unauthorized transaction is reported:
- Must be reported within 48 hours of the transaction
- FIR copy or bank dispute letter must be provided
- Subject to verification and approval by the Trust
- Refund processed after completion of investigation (15-30 days)
3.3 Payment Gateway Errors
If amount is debited but donation confirmation is not received:
- Report within 7 days with transaction details
- Trust will verify with payment gateway
- If confirmed as technical error, refund will be processed
- Or donation will be acknowledged if successfully received
3.4 Excess Payment
If you accidentally donate a higher amount than intended:
- Must be reported within 24 hours of transaction
- Valid reason must be provided
- Refund of excess amount only (not entire donation)
- Subject to Trust's discretion and verification
4. Non-Refundable Circumstances
Refunds will NOT be provided in the following cases:
- Change of mind after making a donation
- Disagreement with how funds are utilized (as long as used for stated charitable objectives)
- Financial hardship or personal circumstances of the donor
- Donations made under the influence or pressure (unless legally proven)
- Donations for which tax benefit has been claimed
5. Refund Request Process
Step 1: Submit Request
Send an email to: contact@jayammarangappa.org with:
- Subject line: "Refund Request - [Transaction ID]"
- Full name and contact details
- Transaction ID and date
- Donation amount
- Reason for refund request
- Supporting documents (bank statement, payment receipt, etc.)
Step 2: Verification
Our team will:
- Acknowledge receipt of your request within 48 hours
- Verify the transaction details
- Review the refund eligibility
- May request additional information or documents
Step 3: Decision
Within 7-15 business days, you will receive:
- Approval or rejection of refund request
- Reason for the decision
- If approved, timeline for refund processing
Step 4: Refund Processing
If approved:
- Refund will be processed to the original payment method
- Processing time: 7-10 business days
- Actual credit to your account may take additional 5-7 business days depending on your bank

7. Cancellation Policy
7.1 Before Payment Confirmation
You may cancel a donation:
- Before clicking "Submit" or "Pay Now" button
- While on the payment gateway page (close the window/tab)
- No refund needed as payment not completed
7.2 After Payment Confirmation
Once payment is confirmed:
- Transaction cannot be cancelled
- Only refund requests will be considered (as per this policy)
- Tax exemption certificate may be issued
7.3 Recurring Donations
If you have set up recurring donations:
- Can be cancelled anytime before the next scheduled donation
- Email request to: contact@jayammarangappa.org
- Include your name, email, and donation reference
- Cancellation effective from next billing cycle
- Past donations are non-refundable
8. Failed Transactions
If your transaction fails but amount is debited:
- Most payment gateways auto-reverse within 5-7 business days
- If not reversed, contact us with transaction details
- We will coordinate with the payment gateway
- Refund will be processed if payment not received by Trust
9. Payment Gateway Charges
Please note:
- Payment gateway charges (if any) are non-refundable
- Refund amount will be net of payment gateway fees
- Bank charges for refund processing (if any) will be borne by the Trust
10. Tax Implications
Important considerations for refunded donations:
- If tax exemption certificate (80G) was issued, it becomes invalid upon refund
- Donor must inform tax authorities if tax benefit was claimed
- Trust will notify tax authorities about refunded donations as per legal requirements
- Trust is not responsible for any tax liabilities arising from refunded donations
11. Dispute Resolution
If you disagree with our refund decision:
- Submit an appeal in writing within 15 days
- Provide additional evidence or clarification
- Management will review and provide final decision within 15 days
- Management decision is final and binding

13. Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to modify this Refund & Cancellation Policy at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting on our website. Your continued use of our donation services constitutes acceptance of the modified policy.
14. Governing Law
This policy shall be governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising from refund matters shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in Mysore, Karnataka.
